Thinlay is right that the archery tournament benefits the Shop of Yangphel and two other archery shops in Thimphu. Thinlay forgets that the bows brought to Bhutan are not hunting equipment alone. They are competition equipment since they are all in colors. If it is a hunting equipment, they will be in hunting CAMO colors. There are major archery tournaments all over the world and these bow companies produce the bows in competition colors.

Commercial gimmick is an overstatement by Thinlay for such a good work done by an organization to promote National game. Of course, there is the benefit for the shop but look at the bigger picture of how their tourmnament helps promote the game. It keeps many men away from gamling, it keeps many people connected socially, it keeps the tradition and culture alive, and the list can go on like keeping some of the restaurants alive from catering, many play this sport as a way of keeping physically fit etc etc.

Anyway, it is not important to make a statement here but the fact that it is all good for the sake of the society. Thank you for the organizers for initiating this wonderful tournament.

It seems nobody is speaking the truth. Yangphel tournament benefits Yangphel archery shop more than anyone else. Using National Game to promote hunting equipment is a commercial gimmicks. That is it.

Cheers

I am very happy to know that Dasho Ugyen Rinzin has done and is still doing a lot to promote and preserve our National game. All of us must not forget to be grateful to Dasho Ugyen Tsechup for sponsoring an attractive prize...this will motivate individuals to give their best.

Zekom's concern is also very important. Yangphel must also encourage Women to come forward to participate in the games. It is no more a mens game these days.

Likewise, it would be very nice if Yangphel and Zimdra come up with somekind of Scholarship for the best Bhutanese Students.

Yangphel tournament is indeed very popylar and game friendly. It has not undermined teh aspects of our traditional game like playing at the same length of the bacho, same style to celebrations, same spirit etc. It has certainly caught on all over Bhutan as mentioned by OL and here in the EAST too, it is a much sought after preference of playing. It helps us office goers and it helps us archers who are not very keen to play for a full day due to committments. So, it is a game to be cherished by all archers. I would also like to Thank Dasho Ugen Tsechu for sponsoring the CAR. I will practice hard to win it next year.

Isn't it very generous of Dasho Ugen Tsechup of Zimdra for participating in the sponsorship of the tournament. It is not only the Yangphel Tournament he is sponsoring but it is for the support of the promotion of our NATIONAL GAME archery. On behalf of all the archers, I would like to congratulate Dasho in making such a generous contribution and this is truly a GIFT to archers although one lucky person will badge this prize. Hope Yangphel has paid due tribute to this generosity. Thank you Dasho. Hope I will be able to win this grand prize. I am very much there on top twenty right now. So, watch out folks!!!

Hi Zekom,

Thank you la Hon Lyonpo OL this appreciation to Yangphel tournament. I think it is timely and deserving to appreciate an individuals effort in briging out the best in our national game - archery. It is by far the most popular tournament and by far the most interesting one too. We are all grateful to the proprietor of Yangphel for this GIFT as called by OL.

ZEKOM - ALL YOU NEED IS TO APPROAVH YANGPHEL WITH A PROPOSITION IF YOU ARE SERIOUS ABOUT LADIES PLAYING ARCHERY. I KNOW THEY TRIED AND WILL STILL BE KEEN IN PROMOTING THIS.

Just an FYI.

Our friend Lobxang's blog has a spyware virus, so be careful in browsing that site. I dont think its lobza (aka Bhongku) who did that, but just an precaution if you guys dont have a good anti virus installed in your computer. my work computer was crushed twice this week and finally i had to get the tech support just to find that it's been downloaded from his site. Lobxang if you are there, do something about it.
