It makes me scared to read this screed from some Gammon guy here. When their project collapses and kills hundreds of people in Bhutan, they will also say it was the Bhutan government's fault and not their fault. Please, please, do something to get this project award cancelled before this happens. We cannot trust people like these who are obvious liars.

GOOD INFORMATIONS-BUT ALL ARE FAKE

FOR THE ACCIDENTS IN HYDERABAD, GAMMON WAS NOT THE CULPRIT COZ THAT MISHAP CAUSED DUE NEGLIGENCE OF LOCAL MUNICIPALITY. AFTER INFORMING THEM AGAIN & AGAIN WHEN THE FLYOVER COLLAPSED, EVERYONE POINTED THERE FINGERS TO GAMMON INDIA LIMITED. AFTER THAT INCIDENT A HIGH-LEVEL INQUIRY COMMITTEE WAS FORMED & THEY GAVE GAMMON A BIG CLEAN-CHIT. IN DELHI METRO MISHAP, GAMMON WAS THE CONTRACTOR NOT THE DESIGNER, NOW IF YOU GO TO DELHI, THEN U WILL FIND THAT THE AUTHORITY HAS CHANGED THE WHOLE DESIGN FOR THE WHOLE PROJECT. EVEN GOVERNMENT HAS PUBLISHED THAT GAMMON SHOULD NOT BE ACCUSED FOR THAT INCIDENT. IN KOTA ALSO, IT WAS A JOINT VENTURE BETWEEN GAMMON INDIA & HYUNDAI. GAMMON WAS DOING THE RAMP & HYUNDAI WAS DOING THE CABLE STAYING. MISHAP HAPPENED IN HYUNDAI'S PART. IN THIS CASE ALSO GAMMON'S NAME INITIALLY WAS TAKEN BUT LUCKILY WITHIN 06 HOURS, GOVT. RELEASE SHOWED THAT GAMMON IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THAT ACCIDENT.
FOR PUNATSANGCHHU PROJECT ALSO, GAMMON HAVE A VERY GOOD, WELL ESTABLISHED SAFETY MODE AT SITE. AMONG ALL THREE CONTRACTORS, ONLY GAMMON HAVE PROPER SAFETY ENGINEER, TWO AMBULANCES, WELL EQUIPPED HOSPITAL, WELL TRAINED MEDICAL STAFF & HIGHLY QUALLIFIED DOCTOR.
GAMMON GIVES VALUE TO LIFE.
THANKS

i thought the Standards for the works awarded was quite high. Because i know that the Govt. won't approve our own industry's material to be used for construction if they didn't meet certain standards. So, if the standard of the work done by the company isn't credible. the Govt. ought to be careful..

patterns of accident or past perfarmance by the company in the past In India should be one of the criteria while selecting who does the job. well hell, I guess its just a repeat of thier own words... the best standards, meeting everybody's need, in the best interest of the people.. blah blah.. its ironic how they don;t trasnalte thier own words and yet all of us... blabbling here makes no difference as they go on doing what want and think is best....
its so heart breaking to see... all these issues come up one after another....

From what we have witnessed so far, I don’t think the DPT govt. will do anything about it. Their decision to increase their own salary at a time when the nation and our poor and voiceless people are suffering from serious natural disasters shows their insensitivity and, that they don’t care about what happens to the common people. Like the 7 boys who were washed away by the river in Chukha, if any lives are lost due to this Indian contractor or any other irresponsible people or organizations our leaders will just pretend to be sad and sorry for a few days and forget about it. Looking at their behavior, in future, I suspect if any donors would come forward to help during times of natural disaster and crisis. People are already questioning the need for such donations when our government has money to play around with CDG and unreasonable (perhaps unconstitutional) MPs salary raise.

I don’t think there is anything Hon’ble OL can do. If the mainstream media picks up the story and interviews him, he can express his concern. But then, as usual, DPT government will just ignore it. That’s why I deeply regret for not having a stronger opposition in the Parliament. This is the mistake we have to live with till 2013. And hopefully, our people will not make the same mistake in the next election.

This reminds me of somebody complaining of the poor quality of a Consultant's work and yet awarding more to the same Consultant. Makes no sense to me and I cannot bring myself to respect such people. One of the things I despise, but tolerate, in my every day living is listening to meaningless complaints. I know if you take action against poor quality work or irresponsible behaviour at work, your becoming unpopular is quite likely but equally likely is your becoming credible in the eyes of those that matter more for your own sustainability into the future. For example, I wanted to give a break to somebody who had been consistently showing careless work in an annual event. I got a special request from his friend (my colleague official within the ministry), which I did not entertain for the simple reason that it was immorally wrong and I would be depriving somebody else of the opportunity. This colleague of mine stopped talking to me (not the one given the break, though) and still does not talk to me (perhaps because his ego was hurt), but has it damaged my career or life? NO!!! It just makes absolute sense to be fair in recruitment and award of contracts in the context of walking the talk of not only performance evaluation but also equal opportunities to all.

Well, OL this information is important and I think something needs to be done to ensure that quality of works in the Head Race Tunnel is not compromised. Govt. must now look at how to take measures to ensure the quality if in case it had not been aware before the tender was awarded.
