I repeat, at the risk of duplicating my earlier statement, that CDG is flawed in principle. Can somebody help!

Ahhhh....the CDG. This, in the hands of MPs will be slush funds they can use to gain an upper hand in the next elections. Aren't MPs supposed to legislate? So, influence effective policies for your constituencies and the country. Be useful that way. Not by getting behind pork barrel funds!

The Government must throw away the EC recommendation. The EC is acting beyond its boundary defined by the constitution.

EC’s so called recommendation/ suggestion time and again is eroding the sanctity of the Election commission.

In the first place there is no reason as to why this fund has to be released in the name of MPs. If such developmental activities are very important, we have to do it but the fund can be clubed with the budget and released as usual budget. I do not see any reason as to why public fund should be released in the name of MPs.

Secondly, If we are to use this fund for recurring expenses then ther is a big problem. This fund could easily be misused and it clearly indicates that government is looking for long run trouble. Any ruling govt. should keep in mind that they can take certain decision as they are in power but as there is negative side of it, in the long run public will not be able to take it. I do not mean to hurt the present government but to any government that will rule the country.
What do you all say?

The Hon'ble MP of Gelephu will be spending the well celebrated CDG for ferrying the voters over Mao/Prem Khola although the fund is not designated for such unruthful purposes. If G/phu MP can use this fund for that particular purpose, why not other MPs use it for similar purposes. There are so many Bhutanese people who cannot afford for bus services and other mode of transports. I totally agree with Dokchok Gothrip and our our govt. shouldn't allow the Hon'ble MPs to use the fund for recurrent expenses and make sure that the fund is utilised judisiously as per the prescribed norms (for developmental activities).

There is no easy solution to Mahokhola recurring crisis. Once I was on tour and tried to cross the river; our four wheel vehicle got stuck in the middle of river. Fortunately, it was in winter and we could virtually dragged the vehicle out of river.

Ferrying people on makeshift boat is OK in winter, but in summer it is quite dangerious and people may easily fall over the boat in the swollen river. Building a bridge is possible but at huge expenses; and the river always shift course each year depending on the amount of rainfall. Then where is the solution??

MP promising bridge over the river is simply day dreaming unless he/she could mobilize billions of Ngultrum; and that is not forthcoming because government has more pressing priority in other places and other areas. I do not know how much is CDG! if it is only in millions of Nu then people have to wait at least for decades before the fund (CDG) accumulates to adequate sum to built at least a long span iron rod and net bridge. But I guess, MP from that area may not spend all his CDG in one single activity; he may have other pressing activities in his constituency. But the question is:
Is there a properly thought out guideline as to how the CDG should be used???

Cheers

East or West
CDG is the best...(at least this seem to be the message)

And, look what CDG is doing now....ferrying passenger across mao khola. Never would have mao khola gliding across the serene plains of gelephu anticipated something called 'CDG' to be associated with it.

The principle is wrong. It wouldn't help much to lament over the implementation flaws. Many more are in the pipeline...

“We are not supposed to use the CDG for recurring expenses. But considering this case to be important and for the good of the people I have put up the proposal,”

This is very wrong! How long will he provide the free ferry service across the 'Khola'? What after the fund has been exhausted? Pump in more?
I think that was a very short sighted solution. For once, I wish the honorable ones would think SUSTAINABLE!
Build a bridge! Build a ropeway! Do whatever! But don't waste the Government Fund in this way. This is depriving our coming generations of their Future for our own temporary needs!

Looking at the scenario, I think the MPs are still not capable of managing a huge Fund. Please don't let them waste the fund. There are lots we can do with it. Build roads, hospitals, schools... lots.
