This is basically how things work in our country. One smart person raises a credible concern, a few people start commenting subjectively and some go totally off track (like the PDP-DPT story. Its most probably made up!). The issue about the BOD is something that should bother everyone in Thimphu. So much fuel & gas are stored there that it will only take a spark to ignite the whole area and, god forbid, claims lives and injure people. Once a guy on a scooter was about to light a cigarette there. Its common sense not to spark anything near the tanks and it was probably a momentary lapse of concentration from the scooter guy, who upon realising immediately put it off. The point is accidents happen and it happens everywhere in the world. We also know that 'prevention is better than cure'. It might not happen now nor in our lifetime but if ever does, it'll happen in our capital and if lives are lost, it'll be bhutanese.

unrealistic story.....I am not sure if our people r dat politicized... sounds totally ridiculous..
Oh, regarding the safety of the BOD's, its high time decision makers come up and put appropriate measures. Its really horrifying to even imagine.

One weekend a man was traveling between Punakha and Thimphu and had just passed Khuruthang when a tire blew out. Checking his spare, He found that it too was flat. His only option was to flag down a passing motorist and get a ride to Thimphu.

The first vehicle to stop was an old man in a Hilux. He yelled out the window, "Need a lift?"

"Yes, I sure do," He replied.

"You a DPT or a PDP supporter?" asked the old man.

"PDP," He replied.

"Well, you can just go to Hell," yelled the old man as he sped off.

Another guy in a Prado stopped, rolled down the window, and asked him the same question. Again, he gave the same answer, "PDP." The driver gave him the finger murmured “Jadha” and drove off.

He thought it over and decided that maybe he should change his strategy, since that area seemed to be overly political and there appeared to be few PDP supporters.

The next car to stop was a red Toyota car driven by a beautiful lady. She smiled seductively and asked if he was a DPT or a PDP supporter.

"DPT supporter!" He shouted.

"Hop in!" replied the Aum.

Driving along the road, he couldn't help but stare at the gorgeous woman in the seat next to him, the fragrance from her body perfume and her hair coming down to the silken wonju, and the bulge of her
perfect breasts, and the shape of her legs and thighs on her thin kira was too distracting.

Finally, he yelled, "Please stop the car." She immediately slammed on the brakes and as soon as the car stopped, he jumped out.

"What's the matter?" she asked.

"I can't take it anymore," He replied. "I've only been a DPT supporter for five minutes and already I want to screw somebody."

If fuel pump/tanks or tankers in Thimphu BOD catches fire, then there are chances that the LPG Cylinder store will produce lots of explosions. The biggest fireworks plus disaster ever seen in Bhutan is a probable future for the above BOD.

i think to begin with we need to find out what caused the burst of the oil tanker and if it is preventable by educating or creating awareness. It would be nice to redesign the whole town but i doubt the possiblity. I also doubt the possibilty of relocating the BOD.

But i believe that another similar incident can be prevented by being more careful and of course by being more strict on the rules of the traffic.
I don't drive so may be i don't really understand it but i also happen to know that people do break many traffic rules to save on time and gas.
