Sir,
i use to read your blogs once in 2 weeks. Most of the stuff are interesting and educative.
I don't have a comment but a request;
In your category, i couldn't find a male section.
So my humble request is a MALE section in your category.
Thanks

Or...would it be a social taboo to talk about such relationships? May be, still get advised by parents/relatives/guardians and elders against such involvement? Just wondering how it could ever be stopped and given this reality, perhaps there has to be a place for help to deal with violence against girlfriends.

Has anybody ever heard of a boyfriend's violence against his girlfriend? I have. It was in the early 1980's - classes 11 and 12. This gf suffered loving her guy. He said he loved her, but was mostly abusive. Nothing to do with alcohol, though.

A nice blow on her nose and many such blows on her stomach were her usual dozes. She wished to run away one time, but he chased after her and bashed her up good - literally kicking her and rolling her down the road. At home during the winter vacation, she showed a kind neighbour friend her back since it was aching badly and there happened to be a bony lump where it hurt. She had to go to the hospital, so she lied to her father that she had fallen badly during games.

Those were the days when there was no one or nowhere to turn to for help. Colleagues showed sympathy, but did nothing to help her out of the hell. How could they? It was considered a highly personal matter. Even the Principal did nothing about it, but there was a special lady teacher who was good to her and told her to take rest whenever she was hurt (to the extent of bleeding from the nose).

All that love and tolerance for nothing! At the end, he was too rich for her to marry her (although he had promised he would elope with her if his parents objected) and she ended up depressed. I'm told she still hasn't forgiven him deep in her heart because the best time of her school life had been spoilt and she was actually bright. She had wanted to be a doctor.

I wonder if there are such cases today and if they can get help.
